Frequently asked questions
Q: How often should my dog be groomed?
Most dogs benefit from grooming every 6–8 weeks, depending on coat type and lifestyle. Regular grooming helps prevent matting, keeps the skin healthy, and makes each visit more comfortable for your dog.
Q: Do you groom all breeds?
Yes! I work with dogs of all breeds, coat types, and sizes — from tiny Chihuahuas to giant Newfoundlands. Prices are based on size, coat type, and grooming time.
Q: Do you groom nervous or reactive dogs?
Yes, with patience and care. I take things slowly, use gentle handling, and work to build positive experiences over time. If your dog is particularly anxious, please let me know when booking.
Q: What if my dog is matted?
Matting can be painful and unsafe to brush out. In these cases, I may need to clip the coat shorter for your dog’s comfort. Extra charges may apply for severe matting due to the extra time required.
Q: Do you offer nail clipping without a full groom?
Yes — nail trims are available as a walk-in or by appointment for £7.
Q: What should I do before my appointment?
Please ensure your dog has had a toilet break and is brushed through if possible. Try not to feed them just before the appointment to avoid tummy upsets.
Q: Do you walk dogs off-leash?
Only with your written permission, and once I’ve built a reliable recall relationship with your dog. Safety always comes first.
Q: What if it’s raining or snowing?
A: Walks go ahead in most weather — dogs love the outdoors! I’ll towel them off before bringing them home. In extremely icy conditions, dog walks may be cancelled if we feel it’s too dangerous to continue.
Q: What areas do you cover?
A: Based in Motherwell and surrounding areas — get in touch to check if I cover your location.
Q: What do you do during a pet visit?
A: Pet visits can include feeding, topping up water, toilet breaks, playtime, cuddles, and welfare checks.
Q: Do you care for cats or small animals too?
A: Yes! I care for cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and other small pets — each visit is tailored to their routine.
Q: Will you send updates while I’m away?
A: Of course! I always send photo or message updates so you can relax knowing your pet is happy.
Q: Can you give medication?
A: Yes, I can administer oral or topical medication as directed (just let me know in advance).
Q: What happens if my pet has an emergency?
A: I’ll contact you immediately and, if necessary, take your pet to your preferred vet or the nearest available one.
